Hazrat Bilal bin Rabah, also known as Bilal Habshi, was a famous companion of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and was the first muezzin of Islam. In the beginning, they were slaves of an unbeliever. Islam was brought, because of which various kinds of pains were given. Umayyah bin Khalaf, who was a bitter enemy of Muslims, used to make them stand up on hot sand in the hot afternoon and put a big rock on their chest so that they could not move and said that either they die in this situation and want to live. So turn away from Islam, but even in this condition, they used to say Ahad Ahad, which means God is only one. At night, they were tied in chains and flogged, and the next day, these wounds were put on the hot ground and they were injured more so that they would become indecisive and go back to Islam or die in agony. The tormentors would get tired. Sometimes Abu Jahl’s number would come. Hazrat Bilal used to manage the food and drink of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the journey. After the death of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, on the insistence of Hazrat Umar, he called the Adhan only once. But on that day, when the name of the Prophet came in the call to prayer, he fainted and fell down. Not only the Muslim world but also the non-Muslims are familiar with the name of Syedna Bilal. Western thinkers, writers and intellectuals have also written essays on the personality and actions of Hazrat Bilal ﷺ and as a muezzin of the Prophet ﷺ and a servant of the Messenger. The book under review “Hazrat Bin Rabah” is the work of an English writer, which was translated into Arabic by the famous Egyptian biographer, historian and researcher, Mr. Abbas Mahmoud Al-Akkad, and the English writer’s personal statements and mistakes have also been corrected.
