The chief of the hypocrites, Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul, the enemy of the Prophet. Abdullah bin Ubayy’s full name is Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul, after his mother. before the arrival of Prophet (peace be upon him), his status and influence among the people of Medina were the most prominent and a few days before the migration, all the tribes of Medina had unanimously appointed him as their chief and the day was even set for his formal coronation. Abdullah bin Ubayy apparently accepted Islam and outwardly began to follow all the commands of Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him), but deep down he was burning with hatred and stubbornness against Muhammad (peace be upon him). As long as he lived, he maintained contacts with the Jews and polytheists of Mecca to uproot Islam and did not participate in the battles of Badr and Uhud, but secretly he also prevented the companions from going on jihad. This hypocrite was also the first to slander Aisha bint Abi Bakr, the wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him). In Islamic history and in particular in relation to the initial environment and motivations for the emergence of divisions among Muslims, the name of Abdullah bin Ubay is mentioned among the first figures. For this reason, he was called the chief of the hypocrites in Islam. Upon his death, Umar Farooq had clearly expressed this that this man was a hypocrite and the Prophet (peace be upon him) should not lead his funeral prayer. However, despite this, Muhammad (peace be upon him) went to attend his funeral prayer with perfect mercy and forgiveness to appease his Muslim son and gave him his kurta to shroud him, but at the exact moment, Allah Almighty prevented him from leading the funeral prayer through revelation. The book under comment, “The Chief of the Hypocrites Abdullah bin Ubay bin Salul, the Enemy of the Prophet,” is an effort by Ibn Abdul Shakoor. In which the meaning and concept of hypocrisy is explained and all the conspiracies of the chief of the hypocrites, Abdullah bin Ubayy, are described. We pray to Allah Almighty to accept this effort of the author and increase his scale of good deeds. Amen (Rafiq-ur-Rahman).
